Yoga is an ancient gem, equal
parts art and science. Yoga Therapy is one of this gem's most
beautiful facets. It focuses on the health and well-being of the
whole person. Yoga Therapy takes into account the individual's
physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects, and serves
to bring them in to harmony and balance.
Yoga Therapy is an experiential process that brings the understanding
of Yoga's primary intention: awakening our essential nature, our
Spirit. This process is unique to each person. Therefore the Yoga
Therapist, as guide and mentor, must select, modify and adapt
the practices of Yoga to suit each person's changing needs.
Yoga Therapy sees each individual as an expression and reflection of infinite possibilities and intelligence and initiates a
journey that takes us to our deepest self, healing the imbalances and revealing our inner nature.

The Yoga Therapy process begins with a thorough evaluation of
the individual's present condition. This includes physical health,
psychological strength and weakness, the role of stress in the
person's life, and goals for creating a joyful, harmonious life.
With the individual's consent, consultation with other health
care professionals may be part of this initial evaluation.
Yoga brings to us many gifts in the form of various practices.
A Yoga Therapy session emphasizes the ones that will be most helpful
and rewarding for the individual. The Therapist can draw from
a vast array of physical postures (modified to suit the individual),
breathing practices, guided imagery, chanting, visualization and
meditation. These practices will create a unique healing process
for the whole person, regardless of gender, religion or culture.
