About the Book

If you are reading this page, and breathing, you can practice yoga!

Designed with you in mind, A Vibrant Life is as an essential guide to some of the many practices of Yoga. It has been created for people who have limitations, or people who think they are too old or inflexible to learn yoga or those who might be intimidated by yoga classes. In truth, age and ability are immaterial to the practice of yoga. A Vibrant Life casts a spotlight on the basics of yoga practice, meant to ignite the fire of yoga in your heartmind.

The book is spiral bound so that it lies flat as you are learning. It’s easy to read because the type is a bit larger than average, with a bit more white space between the lines, to honor the vision of those of us over 25!

You will also find brief introductions to some of the underpinnings of yoga. These chapters are intentionally short and serve as a mere introduction to the foundations which inform your practice, delight your mind, and invite you to explore further the rich mine of freedom and vibrant living that await you.

Three Levels of Practice

A unique feature is the “three levels of practice”, each containing many of the same poses in different variations. The first level is right for someone who is relatively healthy and in reasonably good condition and who has no major limitations..

The second level of practice is adapted for someone with some physical limitations who needs to pay attention to them to avoid further injury or discomfort. These variations give you options for each pose so that you can honor those limitations.

The third form of practice is with a chair. This section is designed for those whose physical strength or abilities invite a more supported practice. Using a chair as an assistant brings the benefits of increased flexibility and strength while honoring the need for the safety of support.

These levels of practice can be used in a mix-and-match fashion. Choose the appropriate pose from any of the three levels, mixing them as you respond to each day’s needs. For instance, your usual practice may be level one. But when you are recovering from illness or surgery you might focus on level three until you recover fully. You might be comfortable with individual poses from each level. Mix and match freely each day!

Enjoy!

What People are Saying

I’ve had personal instruction from Felice. I met Felice when she was writing this book, and I had sessions with her. They were great, and she is amazing. Definitely living proof of what she practices, with such a supple and healthy body and sweet spirit. I’m very impressed with the book and feel that it’s worthy of a strong recommendation. Since she no longer lives in our area, I’m grateful to be able to access lessons just by picking up the book.

At 70 I wasn’t sure of how much yoga I could still do. This book has taught me that no matter how stiff I might feel, I can loosen up & lighten up. It is easy to read & use.

Thank you for A Vibrant Life : Yoga in the Middle Years and Beyond.

Rev. S. Stone

Honestly, when i tried the suggested poses and modifications i actually thought that yoga was something i could stick with. Certainly more fun than the gym.
